Let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope (faith) without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful [to His word] (Hebrews 10:23)
Our mission is to bring the light of the Good News of Jesus Christ to those lost in the darkness; to bring the power of Pentecost to the powerless; and provide a church family where grace is imparted and Christian growth is experienced through the Sacraments, while still being opening and affirming to all that seek out the Lord Jesus Christ.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 New International Version (NIV)
Welcome and We invite you to join us.
You are truly welcome here within the Old Catholic Church-Charismatic Liberal Rite which is broad and comprehensive vibrant, progressive convergence church and fellowship within the Old Catholic and Liberal Catholic traditions. As we see it there are a lot of Christian Churches and Organizations that talk about being welcoming, but the reality is they are rather selective when it comes to whom they choose to work and minister. The Old Catholic Church-Charismatic Liberal Rite truly welcomes all to our community. We take seriously the example of Jesus Christ, who ate with and ministered to the everyday people of his day, the tax collectors, the prostitutes, the ex-felons, the homosexual, lesbian, bisexual or transgender persons and those with serious illnesses such as HIV, AIDS and other diseases that society is afraid of or look down upon. We see that the Kingdom of God is not an exclusive club for one kind of person, but a broad and expansive Kingdom for all people, who seek after him. For we hold to the Principle that "Christ ever lives as a mighty spiritual presence in the World and his church, guiding and sustaining his people throughout all ages."
Why should the Church be for all people? Simply because God loves all people and wants all people to come to fullness of life. The Church wasn't created to stand in the way of people coming to God, but rather to act as an agent of healing and reconciliation through which people are exposed to the love and hope that can only be found in the fullness of God within the Power of Pentecost.
Another part of being a true Church or fellowship has to do with freedom - the freedom of people to ask questions, the freedom to be open to the leading of Christ in one’s life, and the freedom to be your authentic self and this is what it means to be a true Christian Fellowship. That means we are not here to tell you what to believe, how to think, or how to act. We are simply here to help those that come to us that are seeking to find the answers to their spiritual questions and to walk in this life's journey.
Of course, it is not enough for our community to be a loving and accepting community towards each other. In fact, there is a danger in being that accepting. The danger is that we can become so inwardly focused that we become irrelevant to those who are lost in the world around us.
The Christian Church or Body of Christ was never meant to be a country club, never meant strictly to be an organization that was concerned only with the well-being of the people within its walls. Rather it is meant to be an organization that works for the well-being of all people, perhaps most especially those outside the walls of the Church.
We are called to meet their needs and to share Christ's love with them, to welcome them home, and to work and call for an end to injustice within our society. A Church that does not care about and work for Christ's purpose is no Church at all. And so, the Old Catholic Church-Charismatic Liberal Rite is a community of love, hope, charity and especially the respect within the Body of our Lord Christ Jesus, no matter what one’s background - for nothing less will do.
